“The Africa Law Tech Festival 2020 was the first and only event of its kind on the continent.”
The Festival brought together various leaders from across Africa in Law and Technology sectors, the Festival created spaces where conversations around policy issues in technology, the role of tech in promoting access to justice and law reform were furthered.
As a response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Kenya, The Lawyers Hub in collaboration with the Africa Law Tech Association launched a Policy Hackathon in 5 countries to Co-create a COVID-19 Response Bill. With the help of our partners across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Nigeria, we aim to create five inclusive and innovative tailor-made bills for the said countries. This was inspired by the slow policy response by African Countries to create a policy or Bill to enable tax reproves, affordable internet, Ed-tech and Surveillance in this novel Covid19 pandemic.
