
Sumaiyah is an Advocate Trainee at IKM Advocates, DLA Piper Kenya at the Dispute Resolution team, awaiting admission to the bar. She is also a Mediator and an Associate Arbitrator at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya (CIArb). She is currently a Digital Rights Fellow at the Lawyers Hub and a Digital Disruptor at Amnesty Kenya. She is currently finishing Data Protection Certification from both Lawyers Hub Kenya and Centre of Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT).
She is passionate about Technology, Media, and Technology law (TMT) and is a former Fellow at the lawyer’s hub from 2019-2020. During her time as a Tech Policy Fellow, she participated in Tech related policy making processes for instance in Digital Identity and Data protection. She was also part of the team that successfully organised the Africa Law Tech Festival 2020. She formally interned with Vazi legal, an international tech firm and was exposed to start up regulation and public interest tech litigation. She currently consults with Vazi legal regarding Kenyan law. She also consults on Data protection, Alternative dispute resolution, Start-up Regulation & Registration, Corporate, Employment and Immigration law.
